Log in to Stile
You will receive a welcome email inviting you to join Stile. Follow the link in the email to create your account. This is a single-use link to complete your account. Going forward, you can log in at stileapp.com.
If your district has more than one school, you can switch between them using the Schools menu at the bottom left corner of your Stile window. Being a district admin automatically gives you school-level admin access to every school in your Stile district. Individual schools can also have admins that are not district-level admins.
How Subjects and Classes are organised
Stile organises content by Subject, with Classes nested inside each Subject. For example, a teacher who teaches 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science would have three Subjects (one per grade level), each containing multiple Classes (one per period).
Class lists (rosters) are only visible to the subject's teachers, so an admin must add theirself as a co-teacher to the subject in order to view and manage those Classes.
If rostering via Clever
Clever Rostering automatically creates Stile Subjects and populates them with Classes and enrolled students. Stile groups Clever Sections that share the same Course, teacher set, grade, and term into a single Subject. Individual Sections within that group become Classes.
Subject names are generated from grade, section, teacher, and term data in Clever. Teachers can rename any Subject in Stile to something more descriptive (e.g. "7th Grade Science - Mr McDichael") without affecting the Clever connection. See Manage Subjects as your school's Stile Admin.
Rostered Classes are named by period in Clever. Teachers can rename them once students are enrolled (e.g. "3rd Period", "5th Period"). Class names are not visible to students.
If rostering manually
Classes live within Subjects. Teachers may only need one Subject per grade level or course. Teachers create their own Subjects and Classes and add students via Class code or email invitation. See Getting Started with Stile.

What you can do as a Stile admin
Add and remove staff
Use the school-level Manage Staff page to manually add teachers and support staff to your school. This is separate from Clever rostering. Read more at Manage Staff as a Stile admin.
View School Insights
Each school has its own School Insights page, which gives you year-to-date information on the school's Stile activity. Read more at View your school's Stile usage data.
Manage Subjects
Add and remove co-teachers including yourself, rename, archive, or delete subjects from each school's School Subjects page. See Manage subjects as your school's Stile admin.
Manage Students and Classes within Subjects
You must add yourself as a co-teacher to a subject in order to view its Classes. The Subject will then appear in your navigation menu, or you can click into it from the School Subjects page. Once you have access, you can add and remove students, create new classes, archive old classes, and rename classes. See Create, archive, and manage classes.
If rostering via Clever, new students and teachers should be added through the Clever sync.
If rostering manually, teachers can enroll students using the Class code. See Add students.
FAQs
Why is a teacher being prompted to enter a Class code when they log in?
This means the teacher's account is not yet associated with any schools or subjects, and so they default to a "student" state.
If rostering via Clever: check that the teacher is assigned to courses in Clever and that those courses are being shared with Stile.
If rostering manually: invite the teacher to join via the Manage Staff page and ask them to create a Subject. See Manage staff and students as a Stile Admin.
A teacher already created Subjects manually in Stile. Can those be rostered with Clever?
No. Only Subjects created through Clever Rostering can be rostered. Manually created Subjects cannot be converted.
Student work remains tied to the Subject it was completed in, and so it cannot be copied or transferred to a rostered Subject. Teachers have two options: continue using the un-rostered Subject until a natural break (end of term or school year) before switching, or archive the un-rostered Subject immediately and redirect students to the new rostered one.
Students are not appearing in a teacher's Class. What should we do?
If rostering via Clever: Students populate in the Class after they log in for the first time. If a student has not yet logged in, they will not appear in the roster.
If rostering manually: The students have not yet been enrolled. Give them the Class code and prompt them to enter it at stileapp.com/invite. See Add Students.
