Clever integration FAQ for US Schools

Stile integrates with Clever to make the Stile experience even easier for teachers and students.

Here are some answers to commonly asked questions about Stile and Clever.

What is Clever SSO?

Clever SSO (Single Sign-On) allows teachers and students to log in to Stile using their existing Clever credentials via the Sign in with Clever button at stileapp.com. This removes the need for a separate Stile password.

Set up Clever SSO for your district

  1. Fill out the integration request form and click Request Application;

  2. A member of the Stile team will review the request and complete the integration. They may contact you for additional information so be sure to check your inbox;

  3. Stile will then appear in the More Apps section of your Clever portal for teachers and students.

Once enabled, staff and students can select Sign in with Clever at stileapp.com to access Stile.

What is Clever Rostering?

Clever Rostering automatically creates Stile Subjects and populates them with Classes and enrolled students based on your Clever data. Stile Subjects are created from Clever Courses and Stile Classes are created from Clever Sections. Subject names in Stile are pulled directly from Course titles in Clever.

How do I organize my Clever Rostered Subjects?

Subject names default to their Clever Course title. You can rename any Subject in Stile to something more descriptive (e.g. "7th Grade Science - Mr McDichael") without affecting the Clever connection. See Rename a Subject.

Classes will all have the same name by default. Rename them to reflect your timetable (e.g. "3rd Period", "5th Period") once students are enrolled. Class names are not visible to students.

What happens if I have an existing Stile account and I log in with Clever?

If your Clever email matches your Stile email, you will be logged into your existing account automatically.

If the emails do not match, log in to Stile directly with your Stile email and add your Clever email address via your Profile Settings page.

If you logged in through Clever and ended up in a new, empty Stile account, email [email protected] with both email addresses. Stile Support can merge the accounts.

I got an error message when logging in through Clever. What do I do?

First, try navigating directly to stileapp.com and clicking Sign in with Clever from there rather than launching from Clever.

If the error appears on a Clever page (blue branding), contact your Clever admin. If it appears on a Stile page (green branding), or if you are unsure, contact Stile Support at [email protected].

If you are a teacher and are prompted to enter a Class code after logging in via Clever, a new empty account has been created. Contact Stile Support to have it merged with your existing account.

I already made Subjects in Stile. Can they be rostered with Clever?

No. Only Subjects created through Clever Rostering can be rostered. Manually created Subjects cannot be converted to rostered Subjects.

You can copy Sessions from your existing Subjects and paste them into your rostered Subjects. See Copy and paste Sessions across Subjects.

Student work remains tied to the Subject in which it was completed. You have two options for transitioning: continue using the existing un-rostered Subject until a natural break (e.g. start of a new term or school year), then switch to the rostered Subject; or archive the un-rostered Subject immediately and direct students to the new rostered one.

Some of my courses are missing, what should I do?

Contact your Clever admin to confirm the missing courses and sections were correctly rostered in Clever. If rostering is correct but Subjects are still missing in Stile, email [email protected]. The Stile Support team can check whether Subjects were accidentally removed, archived, or deleted and restore them if needed.
