Take your Stile Lessons with you as you transition from one school to another.
It can be difficult to part with any resources that you've put a lot of time and effort into building from scratch, which is why we want to make it easy for you to take them with you to your next school.
Follow this guide to prepare your resources for transfer before you leave your current school.
Before you continue: Make sure that your new school uses Stile and also confirm that you are permitted to take your resources with you. Some schools retain the intellectual property rights to any resources created by their teachers, so it's good to check your employment agreement or ask your Head of Department if you are unsure.
Follow the steps below or click to jump directly to a section:
- Decide what you want to take;
- Duplicate your resources;
- Set up your new school credentials;
- Contact the Stile Support team.
Decide what you want to take
You may only have a few Lessons, or you could have several Subjects that you want to hold onto. Both of these are okay! Take a little time to get organized.
If you have only a few Lessons in a Subject that you want to keep, move them into a separate Folder so they are easy to copy/paste together. Or if you don't have the spare bandwidth to look into it now, you can take the whole Subject with you and organise it once you've moved. Either way, it's great to have a strong idea of what you want to keep and where to find it all.
Duplicate your resources
The resources you want to take must be duplicated before they are transferred. This is to eliminate the risk of transferring any student data. Your Lessons may have student work attached to them, but any duplicates you make will be clean!
If you have a lot of Lessons spread across multiple Subjects and you'd rather just take everything, duplicate each Subject that you want to take with you. The duplicates will have the word "copy" appended to their Subject names so they are easy to spot on your homepage. They won't have any co-teachers, students, or student work.
If you only have a few Lessons or Folders to keep, create a new Subject and title it something like Transfer or Keepers - something that very clearly stands out from your other Subjects. Use this to paste copies of the Lessons you want to take with you. Read here if you need a quick how-to on copying Lessons from one Subject to another. If you teach more than one topic (e.g. Physics and ICT) and want to keep them separate, then create a Transfer Subject for each topic.
Set up your new school credentials
If your new school issues you a different email address, you will either need to add that email to your existing Stile account or create a new account altogether.
You can update your existing Stile account via the Profile settings page. Stile accounts can be associated with multiple email addresses so you can add your new email address without removing your current address. If you are keeping the same email address as you transfer schools, then there's no need to update your address in Stile.
Talk to your new Head of Department, who is likely also your new school's Stile Admin, about adding you to the school's Stile account. You should receive an invitation email from them, just like when you first signed up to join Stile.
Contact the Stile Support team
This is the final step, so make sure your new account is set up and your resources are ready for transfer. When you're all set to move, send an email to help@stileeducation.com from your current school email inbox with the following information:
- Your new school's name;
- Your new email address;
- Links to each of the Subjects you would like transferred, or a screenshot of their names on your homepage.
The Stile team will move your Subjects into the new school account and add your new Stile account (if you created one) as a teacher to those Subjects. We won't be able to transfer your resources until you have an account established at the new school, so be sure that's in order first!
If your new credentials will not be ready before the end of your tenure at your current school, ask your new HoD if they may be willing to invite you under your current Stile account or under a personal email address for the interim time.
