Here's what you need to know if you've been away from Stile for a few years.
This article is geared toward Victorian DET teachers who are returning to Stile in 2024. Stile will look a bit different from the last time you logged in; it's faster, easier to use, and more helpful than ever.
When you log in to stileapp.com, you will land on the Stile science library. Your navigation is in the new side menu on the left side of the page.
This is where you can create and manage your Subjects, including the resources in your Archive from the last time you used Stile.
All new Teaching plans and Lab guides
Click into a unit in the Stile science library and view the improved teacher resources. Each unit now includes a comprehensive Teaching plan and Lab guide chock full of info and tools.
See how the unit is structured and how to plan out each day of Lessons in the Teaching plan. (Click here for the Forces PDF as an example). The plan also incorporates Stile X for schools that have purchased booklets. Each Teaching plan includes a link to an editable version for you to customise to suit your own needs.
The Lab guide includes links, notes, methods, demo videos for each activity, and sample results. The videos are available to help everyone experience the activities. You can use them in the classroom or share them with absent or distance learners.
Teleport and Pause tools in Teach mode
The next big update comes with Teach mode - Stile's presentation view of each Lesson. Key features include:
- Teleport, which will bring all your students to the right page in Stile;
- Pause, which stops them from working so you can lead the discussion; and
- Progress bars, which show you how many students have attempted each question.
You can read all about how to use these features in the second part of the Getting Started series.
Improved admin tools
If you are the Stile admin for your school, you will have access to some helpful new tools. This role is usually given to Heads of Department or IT staff.
It is now easier to manage co-teachers in active Subjects across the school. You can see your school's usage data, and you also have the ability to curate your school's Stile library.
