Enable marks/grades on tests and check-ins

Assessments in Stile add marks/points to help you measure student learning.

Updated this week

Classroom Sessions and practical activities in Stile are not assessed by default. In non-assessed mode, questions have no mark values and students can revise and resubmit their answers freely after submission.

Enabling Assessment mode adds mark values to each question, prevents students from taking back their work after submission, and hides answers and feedback until you release them. See Release model answers and feedback to your students.

Check-ins and end-of-unit tests from the Stile Science library are already set up as assessments.

Enable or disable Assessment mode on a Session

Assessment mode is controlled by the Assessed label in the top left corner of the Session's cover image. The label is white when the Session is not assessed and orange when it is. Both students and teachers can see this label, but only teachers can change it.

How Assessments look to the teacher

In the Markbook/Gradebook, assessed Sessions are marked with an orange stripe. A student's percentile grade appears once their work is submitted or collected. You can filter the Markbook to show assessments only. See Use filters for better control and insight in the Markbook.

On the Sessions page, assessed Sessions display a subtle "assessed" tag next to the Session title. When releasing all Sessions in a unit folder, you can choose to include assessments or keep them hidden. See Release and hide Sessions.

How Assessments look to the student

Students see the same "assessed" tag next to the Session title on their Sessions page. Once you release feedback, students can hover over the tick mark to view their mark. Their overall percentile grade appears at the top of the Session, and their total marks are visible in the Summary feedback section at the bottom of the page.
