When you click into a Session, it opens in Prepare mode by default. This is where you review the teaching plan and Teacher tips, and optionally edit content before releasing it to students.
View the Plan
The teaching plan appears below the title and cover image. It is only visible to teachers and describes what the activity covers and how to structure class time. It also includes additional resources and related curriculum standards.
Review Teacher tips
Teacher tips are visible in Prepare mode and Teach mode. Use them to add guidance for leading an activity, discussion tips, notes for co-teachers, or links to resources and extension opportunities. See Add a teacher tip to a Session to create your own.
Add, delete, edit, and move content
You can edit existing content or build a Session from scratch using the same widget tools the Stile content team uses. See Stile Session content types for a full overview of available widgets.
General widget editing actions available in Prepare mode include deleting and restoring widgets, editing model answers, moving widgets within or between Sessions, and copying and pasting widgets between Sessions.
Edit the title, Session type, and cover image
Click directly on the Session title, or use the Edit title and Change image buttons below the cover image. Set the Session type from the dropdown menu that appears while editing the title. Click Save to apply changes. See Add a cover image to a Session for image size requirements and sourcing tips.
Add mark/point values to questions
Sessions are formative by default. Check-ins and tests from the Stile Science library already have Assessment mode enabled. You can enable Assessment mode on any Session to add mark values to its questions. See Enable marks/grades on tests and check-ins.
Set a due date
Click the Session title or the Due date button near the top of the page to set a due date. Once set, the due date appears in green below the cover image. Due dates are optional.
Students can see upcoming and overdue Sessions on their home page and click directly into them from the due dates list.
Preview as a student
Click the Preview as student button near the top left of the page. The green stripe at the top of the page turns blue, question numbers turn blue, and all editing tools are hidden. This view matches exactly what students see, including hiding the Session plan and all Teacher tips.
Click Exit preview to return to the normal Prepare mode view.
Pro tip: Preview each Session before releasing it to check that everything looks correct. Think of it as proofreading your work.
Print options
Use the Print menu to print or save as PDF: teacher notes, student handouts, questions-only handouts, and model answers. See Save Sessions for print and offline use.
Copy or delete the whole Session
Use the Options dropdown menu to copy, duplicate, or delete the Session, or to restore deleted questions and content.
Copy enables you to paste a fresh copy of the Session into a different unit folder or Subject. Student work is not copied. See Copy and paste Sessions across Subjects.
Duplicate creates an identical copy in the same unit folder. Student work is not copied. See Duplicate a Session.
Delete removes the Session and any associated student work from your Subject. Deleted Sessions and student work can be restored from the Recycle bin. See Delete a Session or restore a deleted Session.
